It was International Women’s Day last Friday, so in belated honour of this important day, we’re going to test your knowledge of female nouns! Many jobs no longer use a specific female form nowadays – for example, we tend to use ‘actor’ for both genders (instead of ‘actress’ for women), and the same with ‘flight attendant’ and ‘police officer’ instead of ‘stewardess’ or ‘policewoman’. However, some words do still have specific male and female versions.
Do you know the ‘female’ equivalent of these ‘male’ words?
1) DUKE
2) (BRIDE)GROOM
3) WIZARD
4) GOD
5) HEIR
6) HERO
7) NEPHEW
8) UNCLE
9) PRINCE
10) KING
