Last week, as part of our Outreach programme, Hilderstone tutor Dominic visited a new school in Prague to run a Teacher Development course. This was arranged by one of our partners, with a view to the continuing staff development of this creative school of around 30 teenage students. Dominic specialises in CLIL and Creative Teaching and Culture courses here at Hilderstone, so he was the obvious choice to help with this project.
The Czech teachers really appreciated his creativity and his insight into the teaching process, and their young students also enjoyed the classes very much. For some of the staff, it was a relatively new experience to be teaching their specialist subject through the medium of English and Dominic was able to offer support and give advice in this area to some of the teachers who were less secure in teaching in another language. . He also had the opportunity to participate in something new for him – a yoga lesson which is part of the curriculum of this exciting and innovative new school. We look forward to hosting the students and some of their teachers at Hilderstone later in the spring.
Dom was also very happy to have some free time to look around the beautiful city of Prague, and greatly appreciated the warm welcome of the teaching staff and directors.
With our Outreach programme, our friendly and experienced teachers can come to your school or organisation! Let us know if you would like more information. info@hilderstone.ac.uk
